Philippa Debort

Psychodynamic Psychotherapist‍ ‍

I am a BACP-registered psychodynamic psychotherapist with an MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling & Psychotherapy from Birkbeck, University of London. I have worked for the University of Cambridge as a Staff Counsellor, Anglia Ruskin University, Cogwheel Counselling and Mind Hertfordshire Network.

Working with adults aged 18 and over, I provide an empathetic, confidential, and non-judgemental space to explore the challenges you may be facing. Life’s difficulties may have thrown you off course, and these pressures can affect how you show up and behave with people close to you, at work, and in your personal life.

Perhaps you have become overwhelmed or frustrated with your emotional responses to particular people, whether at work or at home. Or maybe you feel stuck in habits that are no longer beneficial to you or are making relationships more difficult. Together we can understand how these patterns may have become established and explore how you can make positive changes.

My psychodynamic approach forms the foundation of my therapeutic practice. Put simply, this means I work with clients to consider the unconscious, hidden reasons behind what they do.

Many of the people I work with find therapy helpful to understand, process and manage their emotional reactions. It helps improve their mental health, performance at work, and overall sense of positivity in life.

Before retraining as a psychotherapist, I spent 20 years working in management roles and as a consultant in higher education and academic publishing, which gave me first-hand experience of modern-day workplace issues.

I offer an initial, free 15-minute video call to talk through your expectations and how I work. If we both agree to work together, we will find a suitable day and time to meet weekly for 50 minutes, either in person or online.

Fees:

Initial video call (15 minutes): Free

Weekly sessions (50 minutes): £70
