Counsellor
Welcome, I’m Gillian. You have a reason for being here and it is important you choose the right person for your needs. If you are unsure whether I can support you after reading this, please get in touch and we can talk about it.
I am a person-centred counsellor dedicated to offering a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space to all adults where you can feel properly heard and understood. My approach is grounded in empathy and genuine connection, allowing you to explore your experiences at your own pace and in your own way.
I believe each person has the innate capacity for healing and growth. My role is to walk alongside you, offering acceptance and support, as you reconnect with your inner strengths and discover what feels right for you.
About Me
I have worked in business and education and had a voluntary role with a charity that supports young people, before training to be a counsellor. I support all adults and a wide range of emotional challenges. I have recently worked extensively with survivors of domestic abuse. This has strengthened my passion for supporting those who have been impacted by abusive or unhealthy relationships, whether partner, family member, colleague or anyone in a position of trust. If something doesn’t feel right, it may be the time to reach out and talk about it.
Other areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
· Anxiety and Stress – supporting you to understand what lies beneath your worry, reduce overwhelm, and build resilience.
· Life changes – providing gentle, compassionate support for life transitions such as becoming a parent, the end of a relationship, menopause or ageing, illness, loss or bereavement.
· Loneliness and Isolation – perhaps you feel different in some way, or you are struggling with friendship or family issues. Or you feel alone because of caring responsibilities, a move, redundancy or retirement. I can offer you an empathic, understanding space where you can explore those feelings.
My priority is the person in front of me, whatever you bring – listening to you, understanding you and helping you navigate a path through your difficulties. What you are going through matters and asking for support is an act of self-compassion. If you are considering counselling, I would warmly encourage you to take that step towards caring for yourself.
How I Work
In our sessions, you can expect kindness, gentle honesty and acceptance. Our therapeutic relationship is important, and you should never feel you have to mask your feelings or pretend to be okay. Whether you are facing a specific difficulty, or simply feeling lost, stuck or overwhelmed, you are welcome exactly as you are.
If you are ready to take the next step or would like to find out more, I offer a free initial chat by phone or Zoom and can be contacted on:
